HOKA Challenger ATR<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

HOKA is coming out with a few new shoes for Spring 15 but one to watch for is the Challenger ATR. This is a new trail shoe that features the lightweight, smooth-riding characteristics of the their award-winning Clifton road shoe. But because this is a trail shoe they have increased the support in the upper and gave it a more aggressive outsole. Independent rubber pods with 4mm lugs provide for adaptive, all-terrain traction on a variety of surfaces. This versatile, all-terrain shoe weighs in at 8.6 ounces (men\u2019s 9.) \u00a0<\/p>\n

For Spring 2015, New Balance will introduce an update to their Fresh Foam series with the Fresh Foam Boracay. The Fresh Foam Boracay continues with data driven design, which provides a revolutionary approach to neutral running by combining ultra-plush cushioning with a reduced 4mm midsole offset. Known mainly for their trail shoes, the S-Lab X-Series is their first take at what they are calling an urban trail shoe. \u00a0The S-Lab X-Series offers a collection of 3D technologies to race across a diverse urban landscape with precise foothold, assured traction, and a dynamic ride. Some key features are a 2-way stretch lycra and quick drying breathable mesh upper. It features Salomon’s Quicklace system and lace pocket like their trail shoes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I am always looking for a good way to carry water while out on long runs. The Double Barrel is a great solution. The first thing that I noticed about this pack is how high it rode on the back, leaving the lower back cooler. There are two neoprene stretch pockets on the shoulder straps that are great for gels, other energy food or anything you need quick access to. There is also a rear pocket that can fit a more food, phone and other essentials items but it still hugs the back. As the name applies it hold two water bottles, which are included. GU New Flavor Energy Gels<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since the launch of the Salted Carmel flavor, GU energy gels have become a regular addition to my pack for hikes and trail runs. They are now introducing a couple new flavors that will definitely make it in my pack as well. The two new flavors are Root beer and Lemonade. I think I like them as much as I do because I love both Root beer and lemonade.
